TeamAnimator, Eng
Our team aimed to build a gamified study tool, borrowing concepts of skills, practice, and achievement from martial arts. Working closely with biblibal scholars, we identified 10 distinct genres in the bible that require unique lenses and skillsets to engage with, contrary to common perception of the text as a flat and unilateral. We wanted to build tools to help students not only read, but engage critical thinking and self-guided discovery.
I developed artwork across the entire user journey, including:
I developed the idea of each genre being like a new physical or geographic domain to explore. Our characters are based off the biblical metaphor of a shepherd and his flock.

"Skills" are the building blocks that readers collect as they learn concepts for 1) a specific genre, 2) historical context, or 3) general critical reading. I color coded the skill icons and ensured that they worked with UI considerations, for example having a way to show progress.

Lessons in each genre are based on passages from the bible. I created an illustration for each lesson to draw interest and convey the main point or moral.
I worked with feedback from teammates, who helped me make sure images were readable and had an appropriate tone.
